Meet Joe and Rachel Polaneczky! Joe and Rachel have been Faces Of partners for more than two years and they enjoy that the platform helps them get closer to their community. They are often told by clients that they “see them everywhere” and The Faces Of plays a part in this. It was great getting to know them.
Q: What community do you represent for the Faces Of?
A: “The Faces Of Athens (Georgia).”
Q: Please tell us about your family.
A: “We have been married for 27 years and have two grown children. Grace lives in Asheville and is going to college. Luke, our son, is in his first year of college. We have lived in Athens for 17 years. We have two dogs, a big 70 pound boxer/shepherd mix, Myla and a mini Chihuahua/jack Russell mix named Jasmine.”
Q: How long have you been in real estate?
A: “Joe has been in real estate for 13 years. Prior to that he was a high school English teacher. We have owned our own brokerage for two and a half years.”
Q: From where do most of your clients originate?
A: “Most of our business comes from referrals.”
Q: What is something unique about your community?
A: “Athens is a creative community; we have a lot of artists, musicians, and creative thinkers.”
Q: What are two or three of your top 10 favorite movies?
A: “These are the ones quoted around the house all the time: ‘Dumb and Dumber,’ Slackers,’ and ‘The Big Labowski.'”
Q: Who is your favorite sports team?
A: “The Georgia Bulldogs.”
Q: What attracted you to The Faces Of project?
A: “This has allowed us to see and share the personal side of our community. It allows us to showcase the interesting
people who live here and the opportunity to meet people one on one.”
Q: Who is the most famous person you have met?
A: “Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead, Joe used for to work for him as a gardener after college.”
Q: Have you ever shown a house you believe to be haunted?
A: “Joe has been in houses that were said to be haunted. There was one that he walked into and walked right out.”
Q: What are two things or characteristics that you have, that have made you successful in your career?
A: “Joe is just very honest and trustworthy. He is personable and truly invested in the relationship.”
Q: What makes you happy?
A: “Spending time together whether in a new or familiar place.”
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have been in this world?
A: “Norway.”
Q: What are two or three of your favorite books?
A: “Joe loves ‘Catcher in the Rye’ and ‘Tools of Titans’ by Tim Ferris which shares interviews with highly successful people. He gets great ideas from there.” Rachel likes the book ‘Beloved’ by Toni Morrison.
Q: What else should people know about you?
A: “We love our town being a community focused business that does what it can to contribute to the community.”
